As an English major I have taken many classes in the craft of writing. I excelled in my critical thinking and persuasive essay classes. My analytical eye is best demonstrated when I write videogame reviews and suggest ideas and feedback to videogame developers. I am also well versed in literature thanks to the many English classes I have taken. I understand the dynamics and mechanisms behind epic poetry and classical writing. Best of all I know how to convey the classic ideals in my own writing or pen modern fiction in my own style. Thanks to the creative writing classes I have taken. I am versed in screenwriting, novel writing and short fiction. Combine these writing skills with my journalism history and essay abilities and you can tell that I am serious about the craft of writing.
I know what it takes to write a compelling story, tie in descriptive elements and hammer out a solid plot. The mechanics that work in the short story may not necessarily work in a screenplay, or stage play for that matter. Those elements may not translate into a novel. Fortunately I have studied the subject for a long while and know how to pen any type of creative document. The skateboarding manuscript I am working on now is for a novel. The novel writing class I attend has tremendous faith in the manuscript and my ability. I passed an early version to Tony Hawk for his feedback during the 2000 X-Games in San Francisco. Right now I am working on my final rewrite before submitting it to a publisher.
All of my writing serves a purpose. I have written so much, on so many subjects, in so may formats, that I feel qualified for any writing position from magazines and newspapers to television and motion pictures. However the position I am most interested in is videogame designer. Despite my lack of formal programming classes I am not unfamiliar with the computer. As a seasoned writer and artist I know that I have the creativity and imagination required to design videogames. I know that I work well with teams and as an accomplished videogamer I am also comfortable with troubleshooting and directing the process of game design.
